OGUN STATE: FG APPROVES JANUARY, 2025 FOR NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL

The Federal Government has approved January, 2025, as the official date for the 22nd edition of the National Sports Festival, tagged, “Gateway Games, Ogun 2024”. In a communique released after the first National Council on Sports, at the Old Government Lodge, Abakaliki Road, Enugu State, the Minister of Sports Development, Sen. John Enoh, commended Ogun State Government for its commitment to the successful hosting of the festival. Sen. Enoh noted that the National Sports Festival plays a vital role in national unity, while also increasing socio-economic growth for the sustainable development of the state and the country in general, calling on the Federal and state governments to bid and host national and international sports competitions, to fast-track the development of sports in the country. OGUN FEMALE STUDENT ATHLETES WON SCHOLARSHIPS WORTH N100 MILLION

  A female students’ football team from African Church Grammar School, Ita-Eko, Abeokuta in Ogun State has won the just concluded Nigeria Secondary Schools Flag Football Season II, tagged: “Aketi 2023”, with scholarships worth N100 million for the pursuance of their academic to the university level.   Speaking in Abeokuta during the presentation of a trophy by the State representatives, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, appreciated the school for making the State proud always at most of the major competitions, especially in JETS and School Sports.   Prof. Arigbabu disclosed that since the inception of the current government in the State, not less than 200 students were sponsored to participate in competitions, both at the Local, National and International levels, to aid competitiveness and enhance better performance, promising that government would continue to celebrate outstanding students.  

My Dream Was To Be A Lawyer, Not Footballer – Oshoala

Super Falcons forward, Asisat Oshoala has disclosed that her biggest dream was to be a professional lawyer and not a footballer. The five-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year said that it has always been her dream to become a lawyer. “I never wanted to play football professionally. Ogun youths rally behind Abiodun for 2024 NSF

Barely 24 hours after Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun inaugurated an initial 16-man Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the National Sports Festival that his state will host next year, some youths in the state have been motivated into action. A group of five who go by the name “Men of the Table” has made an initial donation of N5 million as they remarked that they were moved by the words offered by the governor on Monday at the LOC inauguration. The ‘Men of the Table’ is led by Dr. Kayode Akinsola, a lawyer and Partner at Queens Attorney. The other members are Kayode Adamolekun, an engineer and CEO at Hardams Concept Nigeria Ltd, Honourable Solomon Enkolobo who is the managing director of Oluwalogbon Electronics, Hon. Tunde Delu, the Managing Director of Tunde Delu Concepts and Tobi Joseph, the CEO of Black Phoenix.
