New Minimum Wage: "You’ve Reaffirmed Your Commitment to Workers’ Welfare," AMORAN Chairman Lauds Governor Abiodun

The Ogun state Chairman of the Articulate Motorcycle Owners & Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN); Otunba Taofeek Sokoya (a.k.a Danku) has heaped praises on the governor of Ogun state; Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his recent announcement of #77, 000 as the new minimum wage for workers in the state.

Speaking to newsmen at the union's secretariat in Abeokuta on Tuesday, Otunba Sokoya praised the governor's worker-friendly policies, noting that the newly announced ₦77,000 minimum wage demonstrates his unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of workers in Ogun State. The policy, which takes immediate effect starting from October, has been lauded as a bold move to alleviate the financial burden faced by the workforce.

"His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has once again proven that he is a governor who prioritizes the needs of the people, especially workers who are the backbone of the state. This new minimum wage is a testament to his compassion and dedication to ensuring a better standard of living for all workers in Ogun," said Otunba Sokoya.

He further stated that this new minimum wage would boost the morale of workers and increase productivity across various sectors, ultimately leading to a stronger economy for the state.

The ₦77,000 minimum wage policy is expected to positively impact the livelihoods of thousands of workers in Ogun State, making it one of the most progressive wage policies in the country.

In what appears as transition of leadership, Otunba Taofeek Sokoya (a.k.a Danku) has been unanimously voted as the new Chairman of the Articulate Motorcycle Owners & Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN). This follows the resignation of Otunba Aina Nurudeen Alowonle, who stepped down to pursue his 'lifelong ambition'.  During an emergency meeting held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, the state executives of AMORAN addressed the resignation letter submitted by Otunba Alowonle. In his letter, the outgoing chairman expressed his intent to resign due to his decision to contest for the position of Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government in the upcoming Ogun State local government elections.
