FOOD SECURITY; FG APPROVES IRRIGATION AND MINI STADIUM PROJECTS FOR IPERU

The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved an irrigation project for Iperu to ensure an all year round farming and guarantee food security.
The project which comprises a dam and a water works will assist farmers in an all year round cultivation of crops that will guarantee a regular supply of cheap and affordable food items, and provision of potable water to the people of Iperu and its environs.
Similarly, the proposed Iperu Mini Stadium Project has equally received the approval of the federal government as plans are already in top gear to commence its construction alongside the irrigation projects.
Making this known was Engr. Deji ASHIRU, the Managing Director of Ogun Oshun River Basin Development Authority, while on a courtesy visit to the Alaperu of Iperu, His Royal Highness, Oba Adeleke Adelekan IDOWU-BASIBO (Odoru V), FIEX, FICMC, at his palace in Iperu on friday.

Engr. ASHIRU who led some members of the management team of the River Basin Authority to Iperu, informed the royal father that funds for the immediate execution of the projects had already been provided for in the 2024 budget, as he assured of a completion timeline of 6 months.

The Alaperu of Iperu, Oba Adeleke IDOWU-BASIBO thanked the board and management of the Ogun Oshun River Basin Development Authority for siting the projects at Iperu, as he also appreciated President Bola TINUBU and the Federal Executive Council for the  gracious approval.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman, Iperu Remo Mini Stadium Project Committee, Alhaji Otunba Denny Ibrahim OLADIPUPO, also expressed gratitude to Engr. ASHIRU and his team for the visit which he described as very timely.
He spoke on the efforts made so far by the committee towards delivering a fit-for-purpose Mini Stadium and Recreation Centre that will serve as venue for the 2025 and subsequent Ojude Oba Celebrations.

The Managing Director and his team were later taken to the locations of the projects at Atenda and Ibu (Eri) River for an On-the-Spot assessment.

The Ogun Oshun River Basin Development Authority is a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, and one of the twelve River Basin Development Authorities, saddled with the mandate of development and management of surface and groundwater resources, provision of access to safe and adequate water for domestic, industrial, flood control, and agricultural purposes, to enhance the quality of life of the people, and promote the socio-economic development of the country.
One of the parastatal's core competencies is the  construction, operation, and maintenance of infrastructural facilities linking project sites, provided that such infrastructures are included and are integral part of lists of approved projects.

Meanwhile, the Building Sub-committee of the Iperu Mini Stadium Project Committee led by Otunba Owolabi OGUNJIMI, is expected to meet with the Alaperu of Iperu, Oba Adeleke Adelekan IDOWU-BASIBO.
This forms part of the resolutions of the meeting held on thursday, 5th September, 2024, aimed at delivering on its assigned task.

The Chicago State University (CSU) has responded to the request by former vice president Atiku Abubakar in line with an Illinois, United States (U.S.) court order. In its response, the CSU insisted that it does not keep copies of diploma certificates issued to students. It also confirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu graduated from the school in 1979. The CSU said Tinubu graduated in 1979 with a bachelors degree in Business Administration. It, however, said that after diligent search it was able to find some but not give the names because of privacy concerns. It further said that it could not find that of Tinubu which Atiku claimed was presented by the president to INEC. The university said it found some diploma certificates with the same font as the one being queried by Atiku.

AMORAN Inaugurates Otunba Taofeek Sokoya as New State Chairman In Ogun

The Articulate Motorcycle Owners & Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN) in Ogun State has officially inaugurated Otunba Taofeek Sokoya as the new chairman of the union. The inauguration ceremony took place today at the union's state secretariat in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. The leadership transition duly follows the resignation of the former chairman, Otunba Nurudeen Aina Alowonle. In response, the union's executive members unanimously elected Otunba Sokoya as the new chairman, entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the organization. The event was marked by the presence of prominent dignitaries, including the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, and the Ogun State Commissioner for Transport, Engr. Gbenga Dairo. Also in attendance were the union’s deputy chairman, Mr. Kazeem Lawal, along with other members of the state executive council.

Otunba Taofeek Sokoya Takes Helm as AMORAN Chairman Following Unanimous Vote

In what appears as transition of leadership, Otunba Taofeek Sokoya (a.k.a Danku) has been unanimously voted as the new Chairman of the Articulate Motorcycle Owners & Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN). This follows the resignation of Otunba Aina Nurudeen Alowonle, who stepped down to pursue his 'lifelong ambition'.  During an emergency meeting held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, the state executives of AMORAN addressed the resignation letter submitted by Otunba Alowonle. In his letter, the outgoing chairman expressed his intent to resign due to his decision to contest for the position of Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government in the upcoming Ogun State local government elections. Otunba Alowonle extended his gratitude to the executive members for their unwavering support during his tenure.
