GNI Applauds IGP's Upgrade of Imeko Divisional Headquarters to Area Command

Member representing Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka - GNI has welcomed with joy, news of the upgrade of the Imeko Police Divisional Headquarters to the status of an Area Command by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun. 

In a statement personally signed, GNI noted that the move has brought immense relief and a renewed sense of security to the people of Imeko-Afon and indeed the entire Yewa North/Imeko Afon Federal Constituency 

The federal lawmaker commended the IGP for prioritizing the safety and well-being of the people of the communities in and around the local government, Ogun state and the nation as a whole.

According to him, the new Area Command will not only strengthen the police presence and response capabilities in the area but also provide a more robust framework for addressing the security concerns that have long plagued the Constituency.
 
He said that as the federal constituency with the longest stretch of international border in the southwest region of Nigeria, the strategic decision holds huge significance. 

He noted that the Area command will help prevent crime across borders and promote trade, which is crucial for the local economy. 

“I am thrilled and filled with excitement over the news of the timely upgrade of the Imeko Divisional Headquarters to the status of an Area Command. 

“This declaration by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, demonstrates his deep understanding of the unique challenges and pressing needs that we, the people of Yewa North/Imeko-Afon, have been grappling with for far too long. 

“It firmly affirms that our calls for improved security and protection have been acknowledged, and our security leaders are dedicated to addressing them directly and promptly, without any delay.

“As the federal constituency with the longest stretch of international border in the southwest region of Nigeria, this strategic move holds profound significance. It will serve as a powerful deterrent against cross-border criminal activities, effectively stemming the tide of inter-border crime that has plagued our region. 

“Moreover, it will encourage the much-touted inter-border trade that is the lifeblood of our local economy, resulting in greater economic prosperity and integration within the continent.” He said.
