Report Okada Riders With Reckless Driving- ROMO Boss Urges Passengers

The Chairman, Riders and Owners of Motorcycles Organisation (ROMO) in Ogun state, Dr. Sotayo Olusola Rasak has appealed to passengers to report any form of reckless driving by Okada riders to the appropriate authorities in the state.

Sotayo also warned riders to desist from reckless driving and fake ticketing, which he described as against the principles and conducts of transport unions. 

The Chairman, while speaking at the Organisation's excos meeting  in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, lamented that several lives have been lost and many had some parts of their bodies amputated as a result of reckless driving.

Solebo as fondly called stressed that passengers should promptly report any rider exhibiting certain characters such as; smoking, drinking, over speeding amongst others to the offices transport unions in the state for their own safety.

He said the leadership of ROMO is more concerned about about the safety of riders and passengers.

His words "ROMO frown at reckless driving on the roads in Ogun state and I want to appeal to passengers to report any riders who is seen doing such.

"The safety of riders and passengers is our most concern. We don't take pleasure in road crash or death of anybody. We are love all riders and that's we will do everything possible to take disciplinary actions against offenders.

He added " To all commercial motorcycle riders, please desist from the act of fake ticketing, this is against the moral standard of transport unions in Ogun state. Let's work together to move Ogun State forward."

The Chicago State University (CSU) has responded to the request by former vice president Atiku Abubakar in line with an Illinois, United States (U.S.) court order. In its response, the CSU insisted that it does not keep copies of diploma certificates issued to students. It also confirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu graduated from the school in 1979. The CSU said Tinubu graduated in 1979 with a bachelors degree in Business Administration. It, however, said that after diligent search it was able to find some but not give the names because of privacy concerns. It further said that it could not find that of Tinubu which Atiku claimed was presented by the president to INEC. The university said it found some diploma certificates with the same font as the one being queried by Atiku.

AMORAN Inaugurates Otunba Taofeek Sokoya as New State Chairman In Ogun

The Articulate Motorcycle Owners & Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN) in Ogun State has officially inaugurated Otunba Taofeek Sokoya as the new chairman of the union. The inauguration ceremony took place today at the union's state secretariat in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. The leadership transition duly follows the resignation of the former chairman, Otunba Nurudeen Aina Alowonle. In response, the union's executive members unanimously elected Otunba Sokoya as the new chairman, entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the organization. The event was marked by the presence of prominent dignitaries, including the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, and the Ogun State Commissioner for Transport, Engr. Gbenga Dairo. Also in attendance were the union’s deputy chairman, Mr. Kazeem Lawal, along with other members of the state executive council.

Otunba Taofeek Sokoya Takes Helm as AMORAN Chairman Following Unanimous Vote

In what appears as transition of leadership, Otunba Taofeek Sokoya (a.k.a Danku) has been unanimously voted as the new Chairman of the Articulate Motorcycle Owners & Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN). This follows the resignation of Otunba Aina Nurudeen Alowonle, who stepped down to pursue his 'lifelong ambition'.  During an emergency meeting held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, the state executives of AMORAN addressed the resignation letter submitted by Otunba Alowonle. In his letter, the outgoing chairman expressed his intent to resign due to his decision to contest for the position of Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government in the upcoming Ogun State local government elections. Otunba Alowonle extended his gratitude to the executive members for their unwavering support during his tenure.
