Ogun youths rally behind Abiodun for 2024 NSF

Barely 24 hours after Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun inaugurated an initial 16-man Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the National Sports Festival that his state will host next year, some youths in the state have been motivated into action.

A group of five who go by the name “Men of the Table” has made an initial donation of N5 million as they remarked that they were moved by the words offered by the governor on Monday at the LOC inauguration.


The ‘Men of the Table’ is led by Dr. Kayode Akinsola, a lawyer and Partner at Queens Attorney. The other members are Kayode Adamolekun, an engineer and CEO at Hardams Concept Nigeria Ltd, Honourable Solomon Enkolobo who is the managing director of Oluwalogbon Electronics, Hon. Tunde Delu, the Managing Director of Tunde Delu Concepts and Tobi Joseph, the CEO of Black Phoenix.

Governor Abiodun while inaugurating the LOC, had noted that the sports festival should bring together the energy, and creativity of youths in the country and also serve as a platform for them to showcase their diverse talents and potential.

He added that hosting the festival is a testament to the commitment of his administration to empower the next generation by offering them the opportunity for growth and self-development.

In accepting the donation from ‘Men of the Table’, the LOC Chairman, Bukola Olopade thanked them and urged members of the public to follow suit as Ogun State will deliver a sports festival that will be a delight to all.

 “We will raise the bar,” he declared while stating that the LOC will ensure excellent service delivery.

The LOC promptly swung into action with an inaugural meeting. The committee is currently going on an inspection tour of facilities at Ikenne, Sagamu and the host city, Abeokuta.

The Chicago State University (CSU) has responded to the request by former vice president Atiku Abubakar in line with an Illinois, United States (U.S.) court order. In its response, the CSU insisted that it does not keep copies of diploma certificates issued to students. It also confirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu graduated from the school in 1979. The CSU said Tinubu graduated in 1979 with a bachelors degree in Business Administration. It, however, said that after diligent search it was able to find some but not give the names because of privacy concerns. It further said that it could not find that of Tinubu which Atiku claimed was presented by the president to INEC. The university said it found some diploma certificates with the same font as the one being queried by Atiku.

AMORAN Inaugurates Otunba Taofeek Sokoya as New State Chairman In Ogun

The Articulate Motorcycle Owners & Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN) in Ogun State has officially inaugurated Otunba Taofeek Sokoya as the new chairman of the union. The inauguration ceremony took place today at the union's state secretariat in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. The leadership transition duly follows the resignation of the former chairman, Otunba Nurudeen Aina Alowonle. In response, the union's executive members unanimously elected Otunba Sokoya as the new chairman, entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the organization. The event was marked by the presence of prominent dignitaries, including the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, and the Ogun State Commissioner for Transport, Engr. Gbenga Dairo. Also in attendance were the union’s deputy chairman, Mr. Kazeem Lawal, along with other members of the state executive council.

Otunba Taofeek Sokoya Takes Helm as AMORAN Chairman Following Unanimous Vote

In what appears as transition of leadership, Otunba Taofeek Sokoya (a.k.a Danku) has been unanimously voted as the new Chairman of the Articulate Motorcycle Owners & Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN). This follows the resignation of Otunba Aina Nurudeen Alowonle, who stepped down to pursue his 'lifelong ambition'.  During an emergency meeting held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, the state executives of AMORAN addressed the resignation letter submitted by Otunba Alowonle. In his letter, the outgoing chairman expressed his intent to resign due to his decision to contest for the position of Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government in the upcoming Ogun State local government elections. Otunba Alowonle extended his gratitude to the executive members for their unwavering support during his tenure.
