RE: OGUN OKADA RIDERS TACKLE UNIONS OVER TICKET FEE


The attention of the Ogun State Executive Council of the Articulate Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (OGUN AMORAN), has been called to a publication released  by Punch newspaper and with the above caption. 

We wish to state categorically clear without mincing words, that the coalition of the 3 Okada Riders unions in Ogun State, had no plans nor disposition to increase or hike the ticket fee in any ramification or situation.  Every sane person in the country, knows that the economic situation calls for a reflection of concern, support and palliative to the masses. Those who are flying such story and information are definitely doing so for their personal motives.


The leadership of all the Motorcycle Riders & Owners unions, have always reiterated our position which focuses on the welfare and well-being of all Okada riders in the state. We hereby advice the accusers or so-called protesters to forward their grievances through the Zonal Task Force teams in their area or report any information on illegal ticket fee to the state secretariat of any of the 3 Okada Rider unions with evidences. 


On a final note, we appeal to all Okada Riders in Ogun State, to remain calm and be rest assured that there is no plan to increase the ticket fee. We also urge all Okada Riders to always ride safe and strictly observe the road safety rules.

The Chicago State University (CSU) has responded to the request by former vice president Atiku Abubakar in line with an Illinois, United States (U.S.) court order. In its response, the CSU insisted that it does not keep copies of diploma certificates issued to students. It also confirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu graduated from the school in 1979. The CSU said Tinubu graduated in 1979 with a bachelors degree in Business Administration. It, however, said that after diligent search it was able to find some but not give the names because of privacy concerns. It further said that it could not find that of Tinubu which Atiku claimed was presented by the president to INEC. The university said it found some diploma certificates with the same font as the one being queried by Atiku.

AMORAN Inaugurates Otunba Taofeek Sokoya as New State Chairman In Ogun

The Articulate Motorcycle Owners & Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN) in Ogun State has officially inaugurated Otunba Taofeek Sokoya as the new chairman of the union. The inauguration ceremony took place today at the union's state secretariat in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. The leadership transition duly follows the resignation of the former chairman, Otunba Nurudeen Aina Alowonle. In response, the union's executive members unanimously elected Otunba Sokoya as the new chairman, entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the organization. The event was marked by the presence of prominent dignitaries, including the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, and the Ogun State Commissioner for Transport, Engr. Gbenga Dairo. Also in attendance were the union’s deputy chairman, Mr. Kazeem Lawal, along with other members of the state executive council.

Otunba Taofeek Sokoya Takes Helm as AMORAN Chairman Following Unanimous Vote

In what appears as transition of leadership, Otunba Taofeek Sokoya (a.k.a Danku) has been unanimously voted as the new Chairman of the Articulate Motorcycle Owners & Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN). This follows the resignation of Otunba Aina Nurudeen Alowonle, who stepped down to pursue his 'lifelong ambition'.  During an emergency meeting held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, the state executives of AMORAN addressed the resignation letter submitted by Otunba Alowonle. In his letter, the outgoing chairman expressed his intent to resign due to his decision to contest for the position of Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government in the upcoming Ogun State local government elections. Otunba Alowonle extended his gratitude to the executive members for their unwavering support during his tenure. Recognizing the importance of maintaining strong leadership, the state executives swiftly deliberated on the succession. The consensus was clear: Otunba Taofeek Sokoya
