#EndSARS: Lagos LP Charges Sanwo-Olu On 103 Corpses


Lagos State chapter of the Labour Party, has charged the state governor Babajide Sanwo- Olu to give further clarification on how his administration came about 103 corpses they proposed  giving mass burial which the state say are victims of #EndSARS protest.

The party said the explanation was necessary because the state governor Sanwo-Olu had initially admitted that nobody was killed in the protest except one person.

Labour Party argued that the governor needed to shed more light on the circumstances that led to the death of such a magnitude number  of people, saying the party will not rest until the information is provided. 

The state chairman of the party, Pastor Dayo Ekong who spoke at a press conference in Lagos said the state government is not sincere with the information it is dishing out, just as she said there is evidence that those killed in the protest are more than the number of corpses declared.

She noted that whether the corpses were of those killed in Ketu, Agege or even Lekki is not the contention, because the permanent Secretary of Ministry of Health Dr.Olusegun Ogboye is denying the fact that there are no corpses from Lekki among those to be buried.

 Ekong said the fact still remains that they are corpses of  human beings, adding  that the state government can’t just embark on mass burial.

The Chicago State University (CSU) has responded to the request by former vice president Atiku Abubakar in line with an Illinois, United States (U.S.) court order. In its response, the CSU insisted that it does not keep copies of diploma certificates issued to students. It also confirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu graduated from the school in 1979. The CSU said Tinubu graduated in 1979 with a bachelors degree in Business Administration. It, however, said that after diligent search it was able to find some but not give the names because of privacy concerns. It further said that it could not find that of Tinubu which Atiku claimed was presented by the president to INEC. The university said it found some diploma certificates with the same font as the one being queried by Atiku.

AMORAN Inaugurates Otunba Taofeek Sokoya as New State Chairman In Ogun

The Articulate Motorcycle Owners & Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN) in Ogun State has officially inaugurated Otunba Taofeek Sokoya as the new chairman of the union. The inauguration ceremony took place today at the union's state secretariat in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. The leadership transition duly follows the resignation of the former chairman, Otunba Nurudeen Aina Alowonle. In response, the union's executive members unanimously elected Otunba Sokoya as the new chairman, entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the organization. The event was marked by the presence of prominent dignitaries, including the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, and the Ogun State Commissioner for Transport, Engr. Gbenga Dairo. Also in attendance were the union’s deputy chairman, Mr. Kazeem Lawal, along with other members of the state executive council.

Otunba Taofeek Sokoya Takes Helm as AMORAN Chairman Following Unanimous Vote

In what appears as transition of leadership, Otunba Taofeek Sokoya (a.k.a Danku) has been unanimously voted as the new Chairman of the Articulate Motorcycle Owners & Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN). This follows the resignation of Otunba Aina Nurudeen Alowonle, who stepped down to pursue his 'lifelong ambition'.  During an emergency meeting held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, the state executives of AMORAN addressed the resignation letter submitted by Otunba Alowonle. In his letter, the outgoing chairman expressed his intent to resign due to his decision to contest for the position of Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government in the upcoming Ogun State local government elections.
